Dairy Campus is part of Wageningen Livestock Research. We form an inspiring environment and place of encounter for ideas relating to the dairy sector.
We are also an indispensable partner in ensuring the successful transition of innovations and knowledge development from theory to practice.
Data and milk
Dairy Campus in Leeuwarden is the leading research and training centre for dairy farming and the dairy supply chain. Everything that happens here revolves around innovation, research and education. This makes us unique in the world. Our researchers from different disciplines work together with businesses, educational establishments and dairy farmers. We bring science and professional practice under one roof. All our activities are focused on developing a sustainable dairy supply chain. The cows at Dairy Campus produce both data and milk.
A better tomorrow
The Dutch dairy sector is constantly in search of a more sustainable and more efficient way of producing dairy products while taking account of nature and society's expectations.
Scientists and entrepreneurs are on the lookout for new applications relating to milk production and processing, with the focus on smart farming, biodiversity, green energy, emissions, resilience, feed and soil.
This results in more knowledge about aspects such as smart grazing, efficient feeding, limiting emissions (ammonia and greenhouse gases), optimising fertilisation, animal and eco-friendly accommodation, longer working lives for the cows, and improving farmers’ financial returns. And all with a view to ensuring that we can go on producing healthy and safe dairy products in the future with respect for people, animals and the environment.
At Dairy Campus, we offer inspiration and facilities to experiment, innovate, and develop and share knowledge. We aim to make new information available to practitioners fast. Each cowshed at Dairy Campus has its own research theme.
Every week we welcome visitors from all over the world and run numerous activities covering various areas of expertise.
